SD card reading problem

I have two sd cards with pictures I was trying to download. I used a Dynex card reader and it said both discs were unreadable and asked if I wanted to "initialize "them. I have used both these discs before in the game camera and the Nikon with no issue. I am afraid if I initialize them it will wipe off the pics
Anybody know whats up?

I would try wiping off the gold metal parts of the card with a cloth first and if that doesn't work, there is always Card recovery software. Most will run for free, but cost you about $20-40 to recover the files from the card. You might just need a new card reader. I've ran in to that problem before. Try using your digital camera to view them. If that works, chances are it's the Dynex card reader. Just about anything Dynex I have ever owned has broken on me.
