    Camera shutter too noisy

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 camera. I tried to video some hunting this weekend. It takes beautiful video, but the shutter sure makes a lot of noise when closing. Opening is not too bad but if I don't start the video it shuts down and the shutter scares the deer away. Is there a way to keep it open longer? What do you all use for video of your hunt? I have seen some real good ones on here but I don't know what is being used. Thanks in advance. I'm going to use the camera this Thursday and Friday for my son's graduationn at FT. Benning. I won't care about the noise, it will drown out the wife's tears when she see's our soldier man. HOOAH!!

No way to silence the shutter noise. You can get a battery grip that holds two batteries, and then you can just leave it on longer to avoid the noise that happens when you turn it on and off. If you're tech savvy, you can also check into Magic Lantern. ML is a firmware hack that you install on a memory card. It has some great features that aid in video. One of which will let the LCD screen sleep (go black) without turning the camera off (saves battery).
