I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 (1100D). I am wanting to get a shutter release and would like to know if anyone recommends a particular brand. I want one to take star trail pics. Any info would be appreciated.

Get a wireless release, and make it a radio frequency type rather than infrared. Infrared sucks. It only works a few feet from the camera, and you must hold it in front of the camera with nothing between the remote and the IR receiver on the camera. Radio frequency (RF) works up to 100 yards away in any direction, and it will still work if there are things between the remote and the receiver that you plug into the camera.
You can find some at camera stores that usually cost $100 or so. Or you can buy the same thing on eBay from various Chinese sellers for $15-$25. The downside is that it takes 2-4 weeks for delivery from China.
