You know we didn't see or come across as much as I thought and hoped to in terms of wildlife.

30 years, that's awesome, congrats! You won't be disappointed with Alaska and the weather was great during August. If you haven't considered the Galapagos Islands, Equador... Lot's of wildlife, beautiful scenery. A year seems like a long time to think about it, but it'll come around faster than you think... good luck!

These next set of pictures I did encounter my first black bear... I was walking down a trail with a group and out of no where we just here splashing coming from below us and next thing we see is a black bear running down stream splashing away until he swooped a salmon out of the water and bam! there's lunch! It was so amazing and that's one of those moments that I my settings were set to something else and I got caught in the moment and couldn't shoot a clear picture... never took my camera off manual so most of my bear pictures are very blurry.

The waterfall pic is very cool. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot in auto in a situation such as what you were in but i do admire you for trying to shoot manual only.

These next three were taken while out on a walk during a light drizzle, but still had to whip out the camera for a quick shot... hence why they are a little blurry... was scared to damage my equipment if I kept it exposed too long by changing settings & what not, but still good enough to remind me of scenery I walked through... and most important... Kept the equipment dry & clean!

I'll be honest... all this salmon and no bears to eat them... I thought it was odd, but little did I know what I was about to encounter...

a couple more shots along my walk before one of the greatest surprises Alaska thew in my direction

Last time I made the Inside Passage sail....1983. Ketchikan has EXPLODED in population!!!!

Glacier pics...Glacier Bay, Mendenhall Glacier or South Sawyer Glacier ?

Exploring Alaska from a Coast Guard Cutter....I sailed the entire stretch of the Aleutian Islands....some of them are simply unbelievable with no one anywhere. The entire Western shoreline along the Bering Sea......up to Nome and beyond....simply unbelievable!

I believe the glacier pics above is the Sawyer Glacier, and the one's I'm about to post shortly is the Mendenhall Glacier.

The uncertainty is creeping up on me, but I'm ALMOST sure.
