    Canon Lens Question

I need some help. My wife is wanting a new lens for Christmas for her Canon Rebel T1i. She currently has an efs 18-55mm but is wanting one to take pictures of our kids sporting activities that will zoom in closer. I searched on the internet but never knew their were so many different kinds. Any suggestions? My budget is $500 or less, preferably less. Any help would be appreciated.

As long as your wife is shooting sports in the daylight, a lens like this will work fine.

If she plans on shooting at night or in a gym, be prepared to shell out some serious coin! As in ~ $2000 a lens.

With that budget, the lens in the link below is the recommendation I would give (this lens is $549 free shipping)... I have this lens and it takes great pictures for the price...

Oops. Scotty beat me to it....

Great minds think alike. Even though it is a Canon...

I bought this lense back in April and never looked back. It is a good lense for the money. Whatever you choose I would recommend one with Is or Image Stabilization. That is what Canon calls theirs. I had a kit lense with the same power, but at high zoom pictures were blurred unless on a tripod or very steady rest. Some of the gurus may have a better suggestion, but I like mine.

Dang you guys both beat me to it, but I beat both of your prices. B&H is great. That is where I bought my lense, but as of lately I have been buying stuff thru Cameta. Still the great Customer service as B&H .
