    Photo Contest #74 Rules Thread

Contest #74 will run the entire month of September. Entries need to be posted by 11:59pm on Friday, September 30th. That's the night before Opening Day, you know!

The topic this month will be..................................

    WEATHER!

Let's hope we get lots of thunderstorms, rain, rainbows, lightning, etc., but dry cracked lake beds will work too, I guess.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. This can be a great topic if it does.

Certainly not a professional photographer.. I took these at the spur of the moment. Not even sure if they should be in this contest? Enjoy.

I'll rail on ya, Mac. "You broke-leg, no-good, sorry son of a gun. Learn to spell!"

                      Rail over.

Two hundred miles from the eye...Hurricane Alex makes his show with 10-15ft seas along Padre Island National Seashore.

A few minutes after this shot....winds kicked up to 30-40kts with hail and tornado warnings near Mountain Home Texas

Zipping out ahead of the storm, the first cold front of the year blows in right at sunset.

After a bit...it turned into this and I got so freaked out after this shot...I bailed out of here with the hair standing up on my neck!

This scene is the Chukchi Sea, above the Bering Straits between Russia and Alaska..above the infamous Bering Sea Alaska. This shot was snapped exactly at midnight local time. This is the lowest Mr Sun dips before he inches back up over the horizon for another round of 24 hour sun. This shot was made using my old 35mm film setup 1980. Doesn't look like much...grainy from pushing the shot in low light...no tripod on a moving ship but.......it's special to me. My only snippet of life way North in my yesterdays......it's hard to explain the midnight sun to folks.....here's why....he straddles the horizon never going below earth...hanging in this mode for an hour + before rising up a couple of degrees..always sitting near due north on the compass. One must have a crap load of money to view this sunset from this vantage point.

                          Miles and miles and miles

                          South Texas summertime relief!

                          ALOHA!

St Mary's Catholic Church - Fredericksburg Tx - Flying in the Clouds. Both of my Grandparents held their last service here before moving on. Always a special place for me and my family.
