    Canon Teleconverter

What is recommended and why. I am looking for a teleconverter for my 70 - 200mm f/2.8, Right now I am leaning towards the 1.4 but not sold on it for sure. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks Jeff

Check with B&H or read the 70-200 information very carefully. The auto focus may not work on some of Canon's zoom telephoto lenses. If it works on the 200 the 1.4 is a good product. AF won't work on my 100-400 without putting a small piece of electrician tape over some of the contacts on the tele converter. The lens is real slow after the cheat. Focus is soft. Manual focus is fine.
Oh, you may lose a couple of F stops with the converter.
    Rent one first?
    Good luck.

I think the 1.4x costs you one stop of light, and the 2x costs you two stops.

I have the 1.7 on my Nikon 70-200 2.8 and absolutely love it. I am pretty sure Canon makes a 1.7 as well. I thought the 1.4 did not do enough for me at the long end and the 2.0 reviews I read talked a lot about a slight loss of sharpness so I went with the 1.7. Sharpness is great and I really like the extended reach.
Check the reviews on all of them for Canon before you drop the money on one.

Go with 1.4 and check out the Kenko. I have it and have gotten good results.

I am still looking at the teleconverters and now I am looking at the newer Canon teleconverter 2X III. Has anybody used this one and what is your experience with it on a 70 - 200 f/2.8. I'm hearing these are much faster and better than the II but want to hear your opinions on them. Thanks
