I was given a Nikon D5100 as a wedding present and want to take a class to learn how to use it. I am in Houston, what would y'all recommend?

I start with going online and finding a good review of the camera. There are also good websites chalked with information and tips. After you get a good working knowledge, just go out and practice. Also, go to a professional camera store when they aren't real busy and just ask a friendly clerk on the basics. I've learned more that way than any other way.
Happy shooting.

I am in the same boat.
Join This forum: http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/
And join the free email thing here - they have fairly regular classes that are free. They also have used lens's and everything else you can name: http://houstoncameraexchange.com/
Your final task is to keep me up to date so I can attend also....
Thanks
Johnny

I just picked me up a D5100 also. This is my second DSL camera. My first was the original Cannon Digital Rebel which I sold years ago. This is a REALLY nice camera. Now I am just like you, I need help taking good photos.
I am also looking at a telephoto lens and looking at the 55-300. It runs about $300 at BB.
