    I've done it now...

I got the itch to upgrade my photo equipment.

I got me a Canon 50D with an 18-55 3.5-5.6 IS and a brand new Tamron SP AF 70-200 2.8.

Now all I need is some time away from work to try it out.

Is that the lens you used to take the photo of the super moon - OMG, that photo was amazing as are many that I'm seeing. Curious why you picked a Canon?

      Thanks.

No, the Tamron lens was good, but I sent it back to B & H after a few weeks and got a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II L. It is an amazing lens.

I'm not really sure why I picked Canon over Nikon. Both brands are good. I use a Canon 50D and bought it used. That saved me some money to put towards better lenses.

I have a Nikon D40 and wish I would have went with Canon. My nikon is a awesome camera but I am stuck with only being able to use Nikon glass. With Canon you have many more economical choices in glass.

          1. Take a pic of your old cam and we will know the diff between the two!
          2. High speed photos of you shooting arrows into the old one!

Sigma makes lenses that work with the D40 cameras as well. They just aren't as good as Nikkors. They are cheaper though.

I have a Nikon D60, which I bought a while back, not sure the year, it was with the Tax Rebate check, which my husband gifted to me...smile. Anyway, I'm now starting to learn I need some better lenses - as I'm 'one of those' that just got the lens as a package deal.......can't even say what it is, it's worked well enough for photos of the children. I'm now thinking I'd like to invest in a lens or two and feel like the forum seems to favour Canons over Nikons for a larger variety of compatible lenses. I guess I'll continue to do more research before investing in something. Seeing your photos and other's on this forum really inspire me...smile.
