how much are you willing to spend?!
what distance will you most likely be videoing?
will you be using the camera at night? (Night Vision Techonlogy)
      do you need automated zooming?
      how good are you're eyes?

B&H is a good website or catalog is a good place to start?

      All my camera's are Sony.

Gary's a high roller, but not smart enough to deal with good equipment.

        Try this one, Gary:

        Panasonic HDC-TM700

It grabs some fine footage and it's nice and compact. Get a good sized SDHC card for it and editing is a breeze, if your computer can handle it. I think Snakelover just bought this unit. I have last year's version and it's a nice camera.

Plus, as with your love life/fatherhood/hunting techniques, you can lean on me for advice. I'm used to it.

There are a lot of variables to consider when purchasing a video camera for hunting.

What is the purpose of filming-just for fun or to try and sell the footage????

If you are wanting to just film for fun you can just buy a handhelp camera. I would get an HD with a harddrive memory rather than tapes

If you are wanting to film for possible sales to production companies you will want to get a high end camera that is at least 3CCD and HD. If you can foot the bill a camera that uses a harddrive would also be great, but the tapes work as well. An HD tape is 10 or more dollars though which is why a harddrive would be a good idea.
