A left hand camera conversion ( for a stroke survivor )

A couple people have asked how I converted a Nikon D5000 to left hand trigger for my wife. A few years back she had a pair of strokes that left her with a fully functional right hand but it has very little feeling. As a result she can not feel the button operation. I purchased a two part shoulder stabilizer for a video camera from Ritz, 9 bucks. I took it apart and used the bottom part that mounts to the camera. This served as a mounting base for everything. I purchased a package of epoxy putty from Ace Hardware 10 bucks. From B&H I purchased a remote trigger for a Nikon DSLR. I formed a hand grip from the putty molding it around the remote switch. I covered the remote with plastic kitchen wrap so it would not bond to the putty. After it set up I removed the remote from the new grip and sanded it smooth and painted it. I drilled and tapped the grip for quarter twenty bolt. I assembled the grip to the base and installed the remote in it’s pocked. The remote and extra cable is held in place with self stick bandage wrap, my wife selected purple. I would have used black but it’s for her. The brown fuzzy thing on the trigger button is a self sticking felt bumper pad for a kitchen cabinet door, it helps her control the button better. Here are photos.
