Help me with thread size on D3000

    Hey Guys!

I am a point and click kind of guy, so my knowledge about this stuff is limited at best.

I am buying my son a Nikkon D3000 kit from Best Buy... comes with bag, 18-55mm lens and a Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR zoom lens

My question is I am looking at a Macro and wide angle lens that I think screws on to the lenses above.

Here is what that add says:

NEW! Deluxe 52mm Wide Angle Lens 0.45 X PROFESSIONAL HD

HIGH DEFINITION SUPER WIDE ANGLE LENS WITH MACRO

Japan Optics , Premium Rimmed Glass

GUARANTEED NOT TO DISTORT THE PICTURE!

Works on ALL Cameras & Camcorders with 52mm size Lens Filter thread!!!

    LENS BAG is included!

Will that 52mm size lens filter thread work on the camera / lens I bought him??

Also, flower hood...they look cool, but does he need one for outdoor shots?

Taking a 18mm focal length and then another 45% off that puts it at 11.7mm. I'm not sure how you can't get distortion at that focal length.

While I'm not sure the thread size on the 55-200, the 18-55 kit lens does have the 52mm threads. I have the Wide Angle and Telephoto adapters you are talking about, and while they aren't the best glass, I typically leave the wide angle attached to my kit lense. I like the distortion it creates when shooting at 18mm. Here are a few from a couple of weekends ago.
