What is a good flash to get for a D40? I have been looking at the SB400 and it seems like it would work well, since my main desire right now is bounce capability for family get togethers. Anyone use this flash? What are good non-Nikon flash brands and models? Would be neat to have the ability to control off camera flashes down the road, but I can't justify spending more on a SB900 than i did on my camera. Any other options?

I have not used the SB400 personally but I have heard really good things about it. I do know that it has a flash head that flips up to 90 degrees. This is much better than using the pop up flash because you can bounce the flash and get much better flash photography results. It is really compact and for $140 dollars I think it would be a great purchase.
