Anyone know what this animal is? Mole?

I recorded this opening weekend. I'm not sure if it's a mole, or some other creature. I've seen the burrows in various spots on the ranch, but we have never seen the creature that makes them. It just so happened, this time he popped up under my feeder while I was sitting in the blind.

    All the best,
    Glenn

Yep! Gopher great patience teacher for kids, pellet gun, chairs, and coaching! Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours.

Agreed, pocket gopher. A lot of the sandy areas south of SA are covered up with them. Their tunnel systems are huge btw.

I killed (trapped) over 20 in my front yard over the course of 3 months and barely put a dent in them. Started to poising them instead, hard to say if you are killing them that way though.

We have them on our place north of Abilene as well.

It is a gopher, not a mole, moles do not break the surface and expose themselves like a gopher

Gophers are easier to trap, easier to poison, and you can pop them with a 410 when they are at the surface.

moles are much tougher to eliminate

Thanks everyone. I greatly appreciate the help in identifying it.

                  Gopher, apparently they like corn
Had one under a feeder that would pop out and grab a few kernels of corn. Didn't think much of it until I found a 1' deep trench about 10' long where a pig had dug his stash up
