I'm new to having Axis on my place, and was curious about the antler growth as compared to WT. So, I decided to keep some video clips of a single Axis Buck, and track his progress. I know this is the same buck, because I only have one that is 3 yrs old. And, since I was curious, I put the clips together so others with the same curiosity could see. Got my first video of him after a little growth (maybe 1-3 weeks???) and the last clip is the 3rd week of April, he has shed most of his velvet off.

You have some nice bucks growing. Water seems to be the key in this Texas heat for Axis. I am amazed that WT buck was so tolerant of the Axis at the water hole being so much larger.
I'm guessing this is high fence. 30" main beam is the trophy mark on Axis. So, whatever you are doing, keep it up. They are progressing nicely.
Have you found the sheds of that wt? I see the vid was in Jan. -
So far, the WT and Axis are tolerating each other. Not friendly, but no altercations that I have witnessed (yet). As for the WT, I found one of his sheds last year, and the one side was 66". This year, I would guess he has added 5-7" on the side. So, total, a rough guess from me would be 160" - 165" total. He is a 5.5 yr old, so going to give him another year or two, and see how he does. And yes, 1,000 acre high fence, with strict MLD Mgmt.Comment
