    First Kill on Video

Well after a long hard and successful season I was able to get a kill on video. This all started with a day hunt in Deep South Texas in which I filmed several young deer but never took a shot.

I then started hunting my lease where I killed three does in October with my bow. For one reason or another it wasn't working with a camera. I'm using my daughters point and shoot which films in 720p but I think my set up was wrong. The camera is chrome and blue on the front and I believe that having the camera near my shooting window was spooking deer. I put it down for a while as I was hunting a large buck.

In mid November I purchased a tree mount arm and attached it to the wall of my ground blind. With this I could position the camera near a small viewing window shrouded in camo cloth and out of the way. I started getting better video and even filmed a young Bobcat that I called to within feet of the blind.

On the 17th I got my targeted buck but unfortunately was out of frame and shot with a 30/30 (http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=257485).

I went out on the 22nd & 23rd with the specific intent of killing a doe on video and finally got it done. I was able to get off a good shot at 23 yards and watched the deer go down about 35 yards from the shot. I've been very lucky as three of the four deer I've shot this year went down in sight. The first ran about 100 yards on open ground.

congrats on the 1st kill on video and yep i have dealt with the camera being seen before. they have to be used to something all the time being there not from time to time. i have my camera sitting way back from the window and i would try to cover the cmaera up as much as possible to keep the glare down as well.

    congrats again

Thanks for the kind words. I'm pleased for my first attempt and am already thinking of improvements.

Hopefully I'll get a chance at some swine on a planned spring time day hunt in March.
