I've been filming with my wifes Sony handycam and want to step up to HD. I am wanting a camera I can upgrade with accessories. I want a good zoom as I will just film bowhunts. I also would like either a Sony or Canon. What do ya'll suggest?

I'm using a Canon HF M40. This is my first year using it, the thing is great.
HD, good low light and the Pro sensor. It was really the sensor that sold me on this one.
Optical zoom is 10x, which is fine for bow hunting. It also has 200x digital zoom, I really have not used this. There are three models, M400, M40 and M41, the main difference is the amount of internal memory. All three have two SD slots. I think they range in price from $650-$800. If that's in your price range, they are worth a look.
There was a disucssion a week or so ago about some HD Sony's. I'm a fan of Sony as well, and I think the price was several hundred less.
I don't have any video posted yet. I have new software, just have not installed yet.

I have a Sony Handicam too. When I upgraded to HD, I thought I'd want a Sony or a Canon. (My DSLR is a Canon.) Then I talked to Casey about his Panasonic. I ended up getting a Panasonic HDC-TM700K and absolutely LOVE it. Now they have a newer upgraded version of my camera....
Panasonic HDC-TM900K
I understand you're thinking Sony or Canon, but you should at least click the above link and take a good look.
