    A pair for the opener

It turned out to be a great opening day. I shot an 8 point right at sunrise, then followed up with a doe an hour later. The 8 wasn’t the biggest deer in the woods. But since this was my first deer with a bow, it’s a trophy to me. I shot him with my Hoyt Maxxis at 20 yards using a Rage 3 blade broadhead. In the video you can hear the lower limb of the bow hit the tree stand. My heart was pumping so hard, I didn’t even think about the bar on the ladder stand. I probably watch the video 10 times in the stand thinking it was a bad shot. I heard him crash, but I still wasn’t certain. Now the doe was a different story. She heard me draw back, and headed for the door. Needless to say, she didn’t make it. The Rage 2 blade dropped her.

They make a nasty cut. You can see the blood trail just above the bucks head. It was not hard to follow.

try to put a second arrow in that doe....the animal does not suffer and they dont have a chance to get up... i have had a buck do that to me ..did not go far but it was hard to watch him stand and walk away and i did not have an arrow ready to go

                          Congrats on the double
