    Video questions

Wife and I are thinking about getting a video camera. I dont want anything to expensive, but something that will take good video at family gatherings and also when I am in the hunting blind. Any suggestions on what we should get? Thanks in advice.

I use a Sony DCR-SX40. Very affordable. 4GB Internal memory and memory stick slot, very compact, video and photo, 60x Optical Zoom. No HD but there's a version in HD but sacrifices optical zoom down to 24x.

Is it very hard to get the video from the camera to a dvd or on the computer?

Not at all. I just plug my Sony camera into my USB port on my computer, select connect on the camera and the files are displayed on my computer. I can then transfer them to a file folder or straight to a disc. Same with using the Sony Pro Duo memory stick...but I needed a USB adapter to fit the smaller Sony memory stick.

The Sony line of cameras are great. Don't worry too much about 60X zoom, I find it very hard to keep the camera steady with it. You need to check the cameras out before you buy, I have a Canon HD camera, the big draw back, it has a automatic shutter cover. Every time I turn it on to makes a small noise. I have scared deer away by just turning it on.

this is good stuff. I like my sony, it is an earlier DCR model and works great!
