Go for it. We are supposed to have an El Nino summer pattern which generally means wet for TX. Heat doesn't matter to sunflowers as long as you get moisture.

I didn't plant until May 21st. About a month late. But they have germinated and are looking good. Hope we keep getting some rain in June out west. Next week is looking promising.

This isn’t best soil and I been struggling for 2 years trying get coastal to grow prolly killed a billion weeds with million to go…. Only sunflowers and Bermuda growing in this 2 acres it appears mainly so I’m fine with the grass growing if it suppresses other weeds.

This is going to be my oats / winter plot then spring grass then May - sept sunflower patch or millet in future years

Our Blanco County plot is coming along. We have some dense spots and some not-so-dense spots. All things considered, at this rate we will have a ton of dove!!

Our small Brown co plots look like East texas man plot above.
Deer ate a lot but we planted a lot and I am anxious to see how they finish out with our recent rains.

Surprised with all the new growth why deer are topping so many of the plants
