I got mine done this past weekend and went about it a little different than years before. We suffered for rain for quite a few months this past winter, finally got some in early March and I had a heck of a stand of wheat, oats and clover. I truly hated to spray them, they all looked good. That heat kills off the oats and wheat fairly quick. I took this pic two weeks ago when I sprayed early in the morning.

I planted 4 acres cowpeas, soybeans, 4.5 acres of sunn hemp and lab lab mix, and 1/2 buckwheat, durana clover mix. I have to plant another small plot of wildflowers yet.
I am trying out some buckwheat in one 1/4 acre, I doubt if it lives past July down here but you never know.

I got a couple of plots ready, actually four but they’re all pretty small. Our landowners are in the timber business so we are tied to the openings we have. Pipeline R. O. W. and highline, plus some places where the planted pines didn’t survive. Sprayed a couple new plots, turned the wheat/oats under in the others. I’ll be planting buckwheat in the new ones, added lime when I disced them up. The older plots have good ph so I’m going with a Whitetail Institute mix in the other two. Power plant I’ve used before but it had milo in it then, they’ve since changed to sunn hemp so I’m giving it another shot. I liked it originally but the hogs liked it too much, so I quit using it. It will be a couple weeks before I plant.

I've have great luck with it in the fall with smaller seeds....cereal grains/clover/turnips/chicory but the larger summer legumes didn't work for me.
Good luck and keep us updated!
