Herbicide for mesquite and prickly pear?

Is there a herbicide that will kill both?

Picloram 22K (Tordon 22k) will kill prickly pear and mesquite. $55.56 per gallon but requires a herbicide applicator license.

This from a buddy who runs an ag supply house---

How do you mix remedy and diesel?

Surmount will kill both using a 1% solution plus a 0.25% surfactant. Spray with a fine fog/mist, not drops. Cactus has better results spraying in the fall. You can shred or disc the cactus then spray it. The key is 100% plant coverage. If you leave a limb uncovered it probably will survive. A second round to follow up will kill for you. Do not mow until the plant falls over, you need to let the chemicals translocate.

Does surmount require a license to purchase?

I'd probably use pasture gaurd before remedy.
I've not tried mesquite or cactus but pasture guard seems to kill a broader range than remedy.
I do like remedy for weed control and use the heck out of it

Surmount requires an applicator licence. Sendero, no.
