    Age this Smith Co buck

Think this is the same buck I saw multiple times last year, guess he is not going to straighten up and ever make much

Also got this one sneaking through mid afternoon

That's a tough pic with him walking.

    I'm leaning towards a 4.5 year old

Little brisket and he don't have the pop belly of a 5 yo deer I'm leaning towards 4.

I'm thinking 3.5 just based on that pic

Have any pics of him right at the time of the first rut last year - early to mid-November or whenever that may be for your area (best time to age them, imo)? Any history when aging bucks can be very helpful.

With him walking and it being September, there are a lot of variables that make accurate aging difficult.

Given that one pic, I think he's at least 3.5 and possibly 4.5 based on his blocky head/nose and antler mass (seems a bit too much for a 3yr old).

This is exactly what I was thinking and why I was leaning towards 4.5 just based on that one pic.

                            4.5 really?

Based on the top pic I'm having trouble finding anything making him 4.5 or more. Little butt, no Roman nose, no brisket and no gut. I'd say 3.5 but he MAY be only 2 1/2. Admit I could be really way off base here but I don't think so.

                              I can't see past 3.5. Great youngster.
