4/22/2019 Update
My brother was at the ranch this past weekend. It's starting to really green up out there and the grasses are coming on strong since we don't have cattle right now. I think we are going to keep the cattle off for this entire year to allow the some of the tall native bunch grasses to re-establish and provide plenty of fawning and nesting cover.
Here are some pictures from the weekend:
South field that we broadcasted wheat onto last fall without disking or cultipacking:

Native grasses and forbs are getting thick:

NW Corner wheat/oat food plot from last fall (3.5 acres). It's about 18in tall:

We got the gates fixed and eliminated the gaps:

We broadacasted a Turner Seed native seed mix in some recent clearings (around 2 acres). Here's the mix we used:
Bluestem Mix Sandy:
Little Bluestem 45%
Sand Lovegrass (Bend) 15%
Switchgrass (Blackwell) 15%
Indiangrass (Lometa) 10%
Sideoats Grama (Haskell) 10%
Big Bluestem (Earl) 5%
Here is a part of the clearing we seeded:
We are hoping the weather man is correct this week for the newly seeded areas. We will continue to seed native bunch grasses each Spring and Fall in any cleared areas to increase native bunch grasses for fawns and quail/turkey.
