The bigger bucks were nocturnal until rut. Once the rut started the bigger bucks would not slow down enough to even come to corn. Finally the last day of the year this 5.5 or 6.5 yr old 10 came within 38 yards. First time he has been seen by anything other than a trail cam in the daytime. I have attached a cam shot of him earlier in the season. I hunt on a low fence place with 6 other gun hunters. No one has seen this guy other than a trail cam before daylight. No one thought that the "Bow Hunter" would close the deal with a mature buck. This 10 and an even a bigger 9 was on the hit list. Broke my heart when I heard the Big 9 had been seen and broken off most of his tines. My last day to hunt this season and this guy steps out. What a way to end 2012!
