    Jaw bone age

I'd love to hear TBH opinions of how old this buck may be.

    Thanks in advance!

Dang I use to age them all the time. Sadly I've forgotten more than I learned I think.

Where did he come from? I've never seen one with really that bad of a gap on each side like that

I'm gunna say 7.5 to 8.5 but IMO and from what I was taught ur really guessing beyond that point.

Oldest one I've seen. 9.5 or 10.5 would be my guess

Here is the deer it's from....in the pic notice the light colored hair on his head.

                Taxidermist said its around 8.5

A friend suggested this method to age: http://www.deerage.com/ ...probably will try them.

                  8.5 plus, without a doubt.

                    Aging teeth

You have an old deer...one that is probably 7.5 plus. My actual guesstimate would be 8.5 based on the wear on the 4th set as it is virtually gone. If you were going to say a little less then the wear on the 5th and 6th will not support that as the dentine is not showing prominently and the teeth are smooth. A 5.5 will still have some sharp points with the 4th just starting to wear. Cheers!

Just saw the actual photo and I will stand by 8.5 + .

Easily 8.5 yrs. A really cool old buck that your probably saved from being the main course at a coyote buffet this winter.
                          Congrats!

He could be 8 or 16. When they look like that, I call em 8 plus.

Yeah I'd say 8.5 is about right. My sister just killed an 8 point that was 7 had two different biologist check it. It had teeth about like that.
