Determining the age of deer full technique review

Here's a YouTube video I created that covers deer aging techniques (including tooth wear), their limitations, applications, research, and how we can/can't use them in deer management.

I look forward to an open and respectful conversation. Please, watch the video in its entirety prior to commenting.

Special thanks to Chance, Courtney & Rod, Robert, and Randy for their participation!

Great video with enough information to support what most consider the tooth aging theory. It’ll get you close enough for a cigar but that’s all. Thanks for the video based on facts and testimonies from those that know a little bit about Whitetail deer.

Enjoyed your video and everyone's expertise and input. I try to use trail camera history for most of the deer that show up at my place but that doesn't always work, especially for smaller properties.

Thanks and great video - end of the day IMO the camera/year to year following of a buck is the best way to determine age - on our LF ranch when aging a buck if we are not sure if he is 6 we let him walk -

That was a really great and comprehensive video. Great job on that and thank you!
We have been doing an informal study on our place and the cementum annuli method has been a lot better than expected. My guess is and it was talked about in your video, is that method has gotten a lot better in recent years, especially for us southern states.
