    range cubes for deer

anyone use range cubes for deer instead of protein pellets? They have 20% and 40% cubes but not sure how deer will like it so I was wondering if anyone makes a mix of this or just feeds them plain.

we had some deer that would come eat 3/8" calf creep pellets when we fed calves

I was baiting some axis deer with a 20% cow cube (1/2 inch dia. ) this season. In three days time we were covered up with axis and whitetail. We had corn on ground, alfalfa hay and the cubes. The deer would clean up the cubes before eating the corn and would be so full they wouldn't touch the alfalfa hay. They also make a 3/8 pellet for sheep and goats that works real well.

I tried hand feeding some of the 3/8 for whitetail, they didnt really seem to care for it, however as stated above, axis deer love em!

I just threw out some 38% cake cubes today. They are 3/4". I will see what happends. I had a 5 gallon bucket full in the back of the gator so I figured I would see if they ate them.

Red Chain feeds in Gorman used to make Peanut Cake in 3/16, 5/8 and 3/4 cubes. I was feeding the 3/16 and the deer loved it. The bags smelled like a fresh jar of peanut butter when opened.

I talked to Cary Zipp the nutritonist @ Gorman a couple weeks ago and he said they are only going to have a very limited (if any) of the peanuts this year. What they have is going to be used for their protein pellet.

I will be buying a bag and trying it out. Wonder if pouring molasses or peanut butter over it would make it any better. Have yall tried anything like this? Thanks
