    Crossbow questions

Have a buddy wants to give one a try. I told him he could get a custom rifle built for the same money as a few crossbows.

What would be good one, accurate, mid priced, deer killer

Sniper 370 for a budget crossbow . Picked my daughter up for 200 bucks with 18 bolts .

Look at Wicked Ridge, lots of Tenpoint technology for less price. Tenpoints are the Cadillac of x-bows.

            Depends on his budget.
"Mid Priced" these days is probably around $1,500.00...

Tell him to get on crossbownation.com or the crossbow section of archerytalk.com.
There will be a lot more information than what you can find here.
Nobody on those sites will be recommending the Sniper...
You can also find some sweet deals on used crossbows there too.

The Ravin R29 will be my next crossbow.

I have an older Excalibur and now a Ravin R29x w sniper package. Get the fastest speed you can for your budget.

A common problem with low price crossbows is crappy triggers. Barnett crossbows used to have a bad reputation, but for the most part they have corrected that and come with great (trigger tech) triggers. Some can be had in the $200-$250 range and should do about whatever one needs. The one I have (XP400) needed better arrows than what came with it, but was then pretty darn good.

Wicked Ridge does make very good crossbows, but again triggers on these are hit or miss. I have had 3 of the Invader models - one has a great trigger and the other 2 didn't.

Recently bought a Ravin R10 (a little over $1000) and am very pleased with it. If a guy can spend that much, I think the R10 is hard to beat. I don't think you need as much speed as you can get - 400 fps is pretty fast and at least with the R10, pretty easy to find arrows and broad heads the fly well out of it. The more expensive Ravins might be worth twice the price, but if so, I'm not the one to explain that.

To me that Ravin R10 is the bees knees.... not too heavy, narrow axle to axle, cant decock without shooting, trigger is awesome.... and it can shoot a 3" or smaller group at a 110 yards with our spine indexed bolts- crazy

I have a R9 and R10, Ravin is the best. Killed many deer with it.

                        I wouldn’t say they are the best…

I bought a Mission Sub-1 Lite last year for my kiddos. I shot it next to the Ravin R10 and R29. I went with the Mission over the Ravin for 3 reasons.
                          1) Mission was quieter
                          2) Mission has lifetime warranty compared to Ravin's 5 yr warranty
                          3) You can change the string in the field on the Sub-1 Lite

I don't want to take anything away from the Ravins as they were really nice and shoot well.
You can uncock the Mission without shooting it.
                          It is deadly accurate.
I've shot it at 100 yds and it shoots as advertised.

I have the Mission 400 MXB.
In my opinion Mission makes the best all around crossbow.
I just like how compact the ravin is.
