But I also have Leica. Those are great glass to.
I've heard alot of good stuff on the mavens as well. Never have tried them.
And FTR I held vortex diamondback 10x50 next to 8x42 Swarovski EL in New Mexico antelope hunting. No comparison.
Id love to have a pair of swaros and if I hunted where I needed to see past 100 yards more I'd own a pair. The next option would be metopa. Not cause of some paid online review (bonjour) but because people I know seem to like them

Love my Meoptas, glassed NM with them side by side with Swaro’s and feel they are on par.

While you may disagree with them and me, you are foolish to dismiss them as a child's toy. They are a whole lot better than some low light binocs that cost 4-5 times more. Some of you must have more money than brains, I don't fall into that category. I will say that the 70mm lens make them heavy but they are perfect for the blind hunter and are easily steadied.
My wife and I used them for the first time three weekends ago and could see great way before we could see good thru my Leopold 3.5x10 50mm.
There is a point of diminishing return on objective diameter. The typical human pupil dilates to approximately 4mm in low but usable light. As long as you keep the ratio of magnification to objective diameter at 4, that all the light your eye will use. Anything larger is a waster of time and additional weight.

My top to bottom favorites 8-12x. Of ones I’ve actually used. I own the maven b2 11x45 and older razor. I run Maven and gave daughter the razors.
1)NL pure
2)el latest version
3)Maven B2/SLC HD
4) Leica Geovid/razor UHD
5) meopta B
6)vortex razor
If Swaro made a 12x NL pure with laser range finder w/tracking assist, I’d rob two banks to buy them. They would be my perfect Bino. Until then I’d buy a 15x/18x b5 maven addiction instead to compliment my 11x.
I’ve already done two mule deer hunts and have one more this season but trying to squeeze in a 4th. I spend a lot of time behind glass. Essentially the list I gave will serve you well and get the job done, choice just really comes down to budget.Last edited by Texans42; 12-21-2021, 08:56 PM.
