Day before thanksgiving I was going over everything before out of state hunt and a small set screw that holds yardage needle broke off! Glad it had 2
As I feared they sent me a new one vs repair so I had to reset my sight. The 3rd axis is something most don’t even mess with and honestly for 99.9% of Texas hunting it’s not needed to be perfect. But!!! It does to tune/sight
They make some fancy and expensive tools to set this.... and I’ll make some 3D shooters mad, but they don’t work. They can’t. Impossible. They can get closer than nothing but not set, because they don’t induce human torque
1. Make sure level is level! If that’s not adjustable the. No need to go farther
2. Shoot a plumb line at close range ( I shot at 6yards). Hit line dead center. Make sure level is perfect on shots
3. Get a 6’ ladder and move up to about 4 yards. This will put you at an extreme angle. Make sure level is perfect in shot and hit line center. If off left or right adjust 3rd axis till you hit center
4 verify 20 yards
5. verify long as you can accurately shoot (I chose 50 today)
Done
But how does that help tuning?
Ever sight in at 20 and as you go back the arrow wonders? You “walk back” and French tune all weekend and get nowhere. It’s almost perfect.... then in one micro click it goes the other way.
As you aim even slightly higher to allow for arch and like me have some terrain in play that 6* is making you over correct the bow 1/32” out of level and at 50-60+ that translates into 2-3”
Hope I didn’t confuse the situation more
