    New guy with questions

Hey y'all, I am new here and brand new to bow hunting. I just recently bought a Bear Motive 6 bow and I'm looking to dress it out for hunting. I am getting bored of rifle hunting and really want to give this a shot.

This is a bare bow and I have nothing for it yet. So, I guess my question is, where do I begin? I have shot buddy's bow with 3 pins and I like that, so I would want that, just unsure of brand and what not. What else do I need? Can someone point me in the right direction? I will not be hunting with it this year due to being so new, but I'd like to get it together soon so I can begin practicing. Thanks in advance.

Trophy ridge makes good products. That's the kind of sight I have on my bow except it's a 5 pin sight. Make sure you have a rest on it as well. Make sure your draw length and draw weight is set to your liking. When I started I kept the poundage on my bow tuned down a little because you'll probably be a little sore the next couple days until you get the hang of it and build up the muscles. A quiver isn't really necessary now if you're not hunting off the bat but when you do start its better to have one of those. Arrows need to be fit to your draw length which is I think 2 inches longer than your actual draw length??? I think that's right. Get a good target too. All I have is the block target I've had for 4 years and it's still going strong with ALOT of arrows put in it.

Go to a real bow shop, not Cabela's or Bass Pro, and have them set it up and get you outfitted.

Where are you located? If you are in Houston I would be glad to show you the ropes, or strings as it were

I am in the Fort Worth, Tx area. I figured I would probably go to Cinnamon Creek Ranch or something to get the bow setup. Was just curious on buying used parts from the classified section. Good idea or bad? Best to go buy it all new at the bow shop? Thank you all for your replies btw.

If you're shooting carbon arrow (like 95% of most people) learn to flex text your arrows

It would be worth a drive out there. Avoid peak hours and try to find someone that isn't too busy and has time to explain things and talk a bit.
