Problem is the string where the serving is gone is pretty frayed. I tied the loose ends off with a whip knot and re-served over the bare spot for now I'm just not sure how much I trust it. The cable makes a hard bend in that spot at full draw. Seems like a lot of pressure in a small area right there. I'm replacing it more as a preventative than anything. I'd hate for it to come apart in the middle of season.
I thought maybe there was a burr or something on the cam that caused the serving to wear and break but I checked it over and there isn't. I guess just that hard bend in the cable is causing it.
As my bow guy told me last week -- "You sure are shooting a lot." Well, DUH! Season is only 10 days away. Whoa--just left my DXT at the shop for new strings and a limb swap. Oh yeah, that's why I have a backup. Think I'll go shoot a bit.
