    Serving spreading apart

Just noticed this and am wondering how big of a deal it is. Not a very good pic but the serving is spreading apart on the string right before it comes off the cam. Any input is appreciated.

I'm weird about the string. if it starts to look worn, i just re-string.

Yeah serving separation on their OEM threads is common. While the serving separating is not a show shopper it is a symptom of a far greater problem, creep. More than likely you need to get your bow pressed and set back to spec. As far as the separation, you can have it fixed or replace the threads and be done with it.

Thanks for the info. Does creep mean the string stretched? Any recommendation on new string and cable?

Yes, creep is permanent stretch. Personally I like 60x strings, I shoot them personally and recommend them on customer bows as well. Hog wire, John's custom and Stage 1 are also great builders.

Thanks again for the info. Guess I'll take it in when I get a chance. I've noticed you post on some arrow threads too. Might have to pick your brain some time on adding weight up front and increasing spine.

I had a fairly new string do that on my DXT. The timing was still good so I knew that the string hadn't stretched. I pulled the string off of the bow and reserved it. We aren't talking about much work or time to fix that.

I would do a little research and learn how to check the timing on your bow. You need to be familiar with that anyway. Then decide whether or not to spend twenty bucks or a hundred bucks. If you were close enough, I would be glad to fix it for you.

It may not be the end of the world. Depending how old the bowstring is you may be able to get away with a reserve. If there are signs of creep then it would be a good idea to get a good set on there.
