Hi guys, I picked up a Mathews Feathermax last year and just put a new string and cable on it and and had a question about shortening the draw length. The cam on it (Z-BBR) can be adjusted from the 30" it was at down to 29" by moving the string loops from the "1" pins to the "3" pins. When I do this, the ATA measurement shortens from 36" to 35 1/4", and the cam stop does not touch the string when it is relaxed.
I've read that I need to set up the bow with the string at 30" draw length and the limbs cranked down, and something about lining the "1" pin up with the limb? There are no guide holes the string passes over. After I do this I can adjust the draw length back to 29" and set my draw weight and the cam position and axle to axle length should be fine?
I don't have my peep sight installed yet, do I need to put it in there first as spreading the string shortens it slightly? I saw the top wheel is leveled out by twisting the cable yoke sides, is this done by eye or should I put a level from the wheel to cam?
Any advise for figuring out where the peep, kisser button, and nocking point go? I would just start off with them in the same place as the old string, but I'm not sure if changing the draw length affects that. If it is shortening the draw 1/2" on either end of the string it may not.
Thanks for any help, I'm new to changing strings and getting everything dialed in, it seems like a lot of work to do every time you put a new string on.
