    Rope on the release???

So I've been helping a buddy look at release aids here lately and showing him what I think he should buy and every so often I run across a picture of the release with a rope or string attached to it on the front. It's not on the hook or the caliper but next to it. What in the heck is that darned string for? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

The heck is the rope for?

Wow, you make me feel old.
The rope goes around your bow string, under your arrow nock, then around the hook.
It's a back tension release, so as you pull on it, the hook will release the rope.

        Agreed. Feel old too.

Before the time of D loops, we all used the rope under the nock.

I've got an old Scott with a rope, haven't used it in years.

There was a time when the D-loop did not rule the world...

Here is a fella from Texas that could shoot pretty good with one of those ropes around the bowstring releases...Blast from the past!

Nice blast from the past. Thanks for sharing. Those times were awesome. You either got a bow with black limbs or white. No other choices available. And the hottest and affordable arrow was XX75.
I use back tension and I often think about going back to release rope because I like the slight pressure it creates on the arrow pushing down on arrow rest.
