    Noob looking for bow suggestions

I want to get started bow hunting, maybe do some target shooting. I have a 25.5" draw length and right now can handle 38-40# draw weight.

I have looked at and shot (a couple of arrows each) the Bowtech Fuel, Bowtech heartbreaker, and a PSE Stinger X Stilletto. I liked all three but the Fuel probably was ranked first in preference. Any other bows that I should try?

I know very very little about archery. Thanks in advance.

the Common response to this question is shoot as many different bows as you can and figure out which one feels the best. With that draw length and weight limit, a bow with a fast IBO speed (330-360) would probably fit the bill pretty good. that way you aren't giving up too much speed. If there is a Mathew's dealer around you, try out the Chill SDX or the Jewel. The PSE Decree might be a good one to try also. I am not certain about the specs on that bow though. It may not get into the required range. Good luck, and have fun!!!

Good suggestions but I would shoot as many bows in different makes and models as I could, all set up the same in draw weight and draw length and let the bow pick you. 99% of the bows made today are good, but there is one that is made for you and not anyone can tell you which bow that will be no matter what they say. It is your money and your choice. If you buy a bow strictly based on someone's suggestion and you really do not like they way it feels or shoot but buy it anyway we will probably not see you as an archer/bowhunter for very long. You will give it up because you will not like the way it feels or shoots. Believe me I speak from years of experience as a bowhunter and archery shop owner.

Where do you live ? Maybe we can get you started in the right direction of a reliable shop in your area or put you in contact with a handy GS member.

My cousin has the decree. And at 47 pounds 26.5 DL 273 fps. My wife has one too but I haven't ran the numbers on it. Hers is 26 dl and 45 pounds so I guess it's in the mid to high 250 fps range.

Recommend the Chill SDX and Jewel. Beyond that recommendation, shoot every bow designed for shorter draw lengths you can get your hands on and the bow will pick you.

At short draw that Jewel is stupid slow. You can buy a bow $200 cheaper that out performs the crap out of it.

Just recently got more into Bow Hunting and upgraded my 18 year old Bear to a Mission by Mathews. Right out of the box at 25yrds... BULLSEYE. I know I had found the one for me. Had shot a few others but this one I liked. So, like everyone else says, shoot what you can and the bow will find you. Good Luck.
