    Mud motor boats

I'm looking to buy my first boat. The one I'm looking at is a 17ft center console with a 90hp outboard. The owner says he thinks it weighs around 2000lbs. I'm wondering how a mud motor would work on this? I ask because it would likely be the replacement when the OB goes out. Cheaper to replace the motor with a mud motor. I've got plans drawn up for a dual 23hp mud motor, which is what I'd plan on doing. I'll never tube with this boat. Just hunting fishing and swiming.

    Engine hood says 115 but it's really a 90.

That's pretty heavy for a mud motor especially a stock motor. Honestly you are going to be disappointed with the performance of a mud motor on that boat. You'd be better off with a true mud hull. Mud motors and float boxes don't mix.
