I love my 10x42 leopold cascades. Very clear glass and light weight.. Try them out for yourself before making any choice..

I think it a depends on what you are using them for. If all you ate doing is looking from your tree stand then a pair of high end binoculars is overkill. But, if you are needing to look longer distances and are hunting elk, sheep, Mule deer, antelope etc., then I would recommend something very different.
I have two pair of high end glasses. I have the Swarovski 10x42 that I have had for probably 15 years and love the quality. For Christmas this year my wife totally surprised me with a pair of Leica Geovid 10x42 HD-B range finding binoculars. I absolutely love them, even over the Swarovski's.
That being said, I live in Wyoming and hunt in country where to p quality glass makes all the difference in the world.
Just like with rifle scopes, my motto is to buy the best you can afford.

I like the new Swaro binos over the leica Geovid hd b. The leica hd b glass is better than the older Swaro El's but not the new el Swarovision. Test pair for sale if anyone's interested

I think the problem is the Pentax never were "close to top of the line".

I have clients all the time that have 15-25 yr old swaro's, Leicas, etc that are still very very clear. Maybe you've just looked through some good glass since buying the Pentax and can now tell the difference?

I haven't seen them mentioned, but I have a pair of Steiner Predators that I'm very happy with!

Look through the top Swarovski's, Leica's or Zeiss and let one pick you. Then buy the last pair of bino's you will ever need.

I came down from Wy where I used Swarovski bino and spotting scopes. What I have used mostly down here is my Nikon. They seems to work very well in dim light and cost a lot less.
