OK, so years of using multiple pin sights without a whole lot of success. I did finally shoot an OK buck this year but I was extremely lucky. My trouble was that my eyes wanted to focus on the plane where the pins were and not the deer. It was a panicky feeling but the shot did work and I recovered the buck. With that in the back of my mind and much reading from fellow TBHs on the green screen I went ahead and bit the bullet for an HHA single pin. Sighted it in am now in love with it. Accurate, accurate, accurate. Has anybody else had the same experience with your eyes focusing on the wrong plane or is it just my advanced age?

In the heat of the moment its easy to focus on the wrong place especially with 5 pins. I shoot single pin sights and love them just because they simply the shooting process. Here is what I'm going with next.

I use a one pin CBE sight with a down blue fiber optic pin. I had lasic surgery 15 years ago, which by the way is great! They told me at around 50 i would need reading glasses and they hit the nail on the head there. When i turned 50-51 the multiple pins started clustering together on me bad. So I went to the one pin sight. I can't really see red or yellow pins clearly either. The clear or blue fiber shows up well in any light for me. The down pin keeps the target from being obstructed in my opinion. I also use a #2 clarifier in my peep and a 6x power lense in my scope.
By the way op djohnson I'm David Johnson, howdy lol.Last edited by Abcdj; 01-14-2015, 08:35 PM.

I will never shoot multiple pins again after switching. I dabble with the idea of the Trophy Ridge react trio, but in the end nothing helps you focus on one pin like only having one pin. The pin is always in the same spot of your sight picture, which eliminates the error of multiple pins. It's the way to go. Period.

Forgot to mention that you will get people saying that single puns are too hard to use in spot and stalk situations. There are times where that is true, but more often than not you can set your pin at 25-30 and adjust from there.
I spot and stalked a whitetail this past weekend with my pin at 30. When he stopped broadside at 35 yards I let the arrow go and got a solid double lung. The shot wasn't in the pocket as I had hoped, but that was because it was too far back. The height was perfect. I shoot one of the biggest albatross of a sight ever to hit the market, but it worked great.
The beauty of a single pin is that it WILL make you more focused, regardless of any other circumstance.

Those crosshairs on that sight make me kinda nervous... Don't know what that would hold up to
