    String and cable length

Hi guys, need some input regarding string and cables. When adjusting for stretch, does the bow need to adjusted down to the minimal poundage? My strings are not that old however i saw the timing marks are a little off. Trying to get to specs in length and correct ata. I shoot a bowtech sniper 2009 model.

No, adjustments are generally made with the bow maxed out or where you shoot it if you know where you need to be. Set the bow to peak weight and see if the bow is making weight first, as in 70# bow actually hitting 70 pounds. After that look at the draw length. If everything looks good the you can get down to micro adjustments for timing and personal preference.

Some manufacturers recommend taking the bow down a few turns while pressing to remove stress during the process. If that is the case max the bow, make note of where it's at, turn down, press, makes string cable adjustments, max back out and verify adjustment.

This, although keep in mind that your timing marks are simply a reference to the efficiency zone of your cams, as the cables WILL NOT cross in between the timing dots in the exact same place, due to cable-rod not being in center of bow.
