    Arrow Recomendations

Need some help guys. I tried to review previous threads but am still a bit confused on this one.

Looking to build some arrows, thinking about the Hexx but am not sure to go with 400 or 330 spine if i will be using a 50-75g brass insert up front. Do i need to go down to 330's?

    Current setup:
PSE Drive 70lb set at 65lb currently
    28" D
    28.5" Arrow
    ICS Bowhunters 340 spine
    100g Rage Hypodermic

Will be used for Whitetail/NM Mule deer spot & stalk hunts. Also, any suggestions on a separate build for Elk?

I bet the 340 spine with that set up would be fine.

Since you are looking at a very light arrow I'll suggest checking out the Black Eagle Carnivores. I've been very happy with them. I was also looking at the Hexx and Da Torch when deciding on arrows. Just a suggestion. All great arrows.

        Arrow Recomendations

        I'd say minimum 300 spine.
Add 50 or more grains up front, to get your FOC up, you should be able to use same arrow for both.

At your draw and wanting to add 50 to 75 gn insert. I would go to a good 300 spine.

Contact muddyfuzzy on here. Talk to him about some 300 spine carnivores from blackeagle. He has a great price and goes to great lengths to get you a good arrow.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Will look into those arrows. I just want a fairly fast arrow with decent foc. Maybe around 12%.

The hexx are super light at 7.Xg per inch. I just wanted to put a little weight on and increase foc. Should I be going about this differently? 50g brass insert too much?

If you want light and fast. And foc of 12%. You don't need to add brass inserts. You will be close enough to that at what you are shooting. If not just go to a 125 gn head and call it good.

From reading your post it looks like you want to get the hexx arrows. At your draw and arrow being 28 inch plus. Get the 330 spine. You could shorten the arrow a little and gain a bit more foc.

Remember you need to stay at that 5 gn per pound arrow weight. So at 65 lb pull 325 gn is the lightest arrow you will want to shoot.

I don't get into these arrow discussions much, due to the fact that most of them turn into untested opinions, but this was my opinion also.
You already have a speedy arrow with the FOC you're looking for, with the arrow you have.
                No need for inserts.

They only offer a 330 in this arrow. Do yall think i'll be ok still even with the 50g up front?

There is a program called pinwheel ontarget2. It has a 10 day free trial. If the arrow is not an 2015 model then it should be there and you can play with it.

Your only talking about 150 gn total upfront weight. So this arrow may handle it.

You stated your a 28 in draw. Depending on your rest you could shoot a 26.5 gn arrow. So if the arrow shows sign of being to weak just trim down 1/8 at a time till good. I bet it's still in the 27 plus inch range.

Also you can contact easton and they will tell you if that arrow will work

The Hexx 330s will be fine with the setup you mentioned. You can even increase your bow's DW to 70-72 #'s and the spine should be just fine.

That is a nice little calculator ibomb put up, and its free. It can be found here:

I did a different calculation for a 350 spine that gave me 457 gr arrow with 10.8% FOC. Looking to give this one a go.

If it was me with that set up I would get a black eagle Rampage with a brass insert. It wont be a speed demon but it will be unstoppable
