    Arrow Rest Problems

I have a QAD drop away rest on my Hoyt Alphamax 32.

For some reason today it decided to malfunction.

The second I get to full draw it pops fairly loudly and jumps. Almost like the string connecting it to the cable has been shortened somehow or something is throwing it into a bind.

I have never had a minutes trouble with it. I did have my string and cable replaced by Cinnamon Creek Archery shop before the season.

    Any ideas?

Don't raise your rest up, and draw your bow back.it should raise up within the last inch or so of the draw.

They may have it raising too quick. Ive never seen or heard one pop though.

    Just a thought

is the pull cable served or clamped? clamped, i could see something going wrong with it moving on the string if the clamp is loose or the clamp got bump/moved.

I raise it with the thumb lever before I draw. So it isn't piping when it comes up. It is like the chord is too tight and binding.

Why not just take it back to CCR and have them diagnose and repair your issue? Either the internals have gone bad causing it to jump up, or the activator cord is too short because your string may have stretched some. Either way a shop can fix your problems.

Did the launcher come down at the shot or when you "flicked" it down? Is this the first you have shot it since the replacement cord was put on? The launcher should come to full capture in the last inch of draw...not any less than that and I prefer the 1 1/4" of draw. If it did not come down then send it to QAD and they will take care of you and have it back to you in minimal time.

After my last experience I plan on finding a new bow shop. I was displeased with those guys last time and I haven't seen or heard anything to show me they will care more going forward.

Also I want to know how this stuff works for myself. I think the more I can learn about my bow and the parts that make it up the better.

It still comes down at the end of the shot, and seems to operate fine but it makes a heck of a pop when I come to full draw. Like snapping your fingers as loud as you can. And it appears to jump slightly.

After the pop (during the shot) it seems to work fine.

This is not the first time I shot it. They replaced the string and cables back in August and I have shot 500+\- arrows through it probably

Yeah. I was just saying that's the easy way to find out if your cord was served in too short.
They should put your cord through your cable, draw it back without raising the rest and verify the rest comes up within the last 1" of draw. Then serve it in there... sometimes they'll pull another 1/8" of cord through after they draw it, but each to his own on that.

Depending on your bow you could have tuning problems with a cord too short... pulling your cable too tight, throwing cam timing off.... you should take it back and give them the opportunity to make it right.

Call ahead to CCR and ask for Jeff. He will make sure you are taken care of. I had a bad time there ONCE. As soon as I informed the good folks there I needed help and felt ignored, they not only helped me out with purchasing my wife a bow, they checked my bow out and made me a deal on my wife's arrows. Sometimes in retail customers slip by, at no fault of anybody. Just voice your opinion to the men at the shop and they'll fix it. I can guaruntee you that

I'm tired, thus I went from present to past tense. She was my fiancé at the time... And is now my wife.

Also, I'm not smart, rich, or stupid enough to keep up two relationships
