    ladder Stands

Hunting a new area this year and new to the bow, I have always been on the ground, looking at a ladder stand set up, the clearing in the area is 28 yds in diameter with three distinct inbound/outbound travel lanes, and large trees around the circumference. I can set my back to the two dominant inbound travel lanes fairly easily.

Would a ladder stand aka the two man type pose any major challenge, I am not crazy about tree stands.

Two man ladder stands are great but can be quite difficult to put up unless you have the right help. I use single ladder stands quite a bit and like them a whole lot.

Never used a double IMO ladder stands are the way to go.

I have three sons so help is readily accessible, I would like my youngest to be able to sit with me some, my older two hunt solo nowadays for the most part.

Depending on which ladder stand you go with and how large you (and your son) are, you may be sitting pretty tight together. I got a two man ladder, thinking my son and I could hunt together. It was the largest one available at this particular store, and rated to 500lbs, but in reality it makes for a tight fit. For a single person it is very comfortable.

For 2 people you have to go with a double! Not a chance a single will hold 2 people of any size

Most singles are rated for 300 lbs but more importantly IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to seat 2 people. Way too narrow and even tight for 1 bigger person

You will need 2-3 adults to stand up a double ladder stand....fyi

I love ladder stands, do it if you have the trees. It's so much more fun than being on the ground in my opinion...but that's because I'm forced to hunt mainly on the ground due to W. Texas terrain.

My oldest two boys are teens and bigger than me, I am confident those two yahoos can get the stand up, I will make sure it is secure, my youngest is only ten and a pretty small dude, he is tyhe only one that would sit in a stand that close with me, maybe its not gonna be enough room at least I will be comfy when solo but I already have a ground blind looking at the same area so if it doesn't provide enough room I have an option, plus six other blinds on the property.

I was thinking Millenium dbl 16 ft.
Have to get it up this weekend though.
