    Keep it simple stupid....

Get a good cheap quality fletching jig (Grayling, Martin)

Get a good quality glue (Gorilla glue gel green cap)

Get a good vanes or feathers glued to the arrow shaft right or straight w/ a lot of angle

    Can get simple than that........
EZ fletch is as simple as it gets

Load vanes, apply glue, close it up, wait a few minutes if using super glue, open and repeat

Consistent and helical or offset (they make a straight one too) already set. You can also index the nocks in relation to cock vane so minimal nock tuning needed prior to shooting

Once you try one you will not want to mess with gluing on one vane at a time

Hey guys my wife showed up with a bohning pro class (straight). So I've been messing around with it and so far it seems pretty easy. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is how much offset and how to determine the offset I have the jig set for? I'm assuming it's a guessing game and whatever looks good. blazer vanes. What do you think guys. How much offset?

Looks good to me, just be sure they are all three the same angle and your good. Too much offset and you risk slowing the arrow down a tad, but you probably wouldn't notice it.

If you had to guess what do you think the offset is?

Don't worry about what degree the offset it. The key is to make sure the base of the vane seats evenly and flat for the entire length of the vane. Judging by the pics, you need to move the front a tad IMO.

Also, you should put a very light coat of string wax on the inside of the clamp. That will help any excess glue release the vane, and clean off the clamp easier too.

And in general terms, when the vane seats flat it should be about 6 degree offset +/- a degree or two.

Folks--on the amount of offset or helical, what "looks good" doesn't matter a bit if it doesn't shoot good. Base your evaluation of good/bad on the target, not your eyeball.

I totally agree with needing to shoot the arrow. I just need to know if I'm in the ballpark as far as offset goes. Does it appear to be closer to 1 degree or closer to 10 degrees? And where do I want to it to be? I read 6 degrees and I've read 1 degree.

You are way over thinking this. Without some fairly serious measurement tools, you will never know exactly what it is. Bbt you can look down the shaft and compare it to a clock.

1o'clock is 30 degrees, so the closer to 12 o'clock the back of the vane is, the closer to zero it will be. You are less than 30 and greater than zero. Again, make sure the base of the vane sits flat for the entire length, and the offset will be what it is. And it will be the same every time unless you change your vanes or the diameter of your arrow.

Now go shoot it. You are doing fine.

the arizona ez fletch is good but I prefer the bohning tower jig, works great and don't forget to clean your arrows and vanes with acetone before applying the glue and the little dab of glue on the leading edge of the vane works great been doing it that way for years
good luck and go out and shoot as often as you can
