Need Advice on a New Rest

    Guys,

I just recently bought a hoyt spyder 30 and am starting my modifications on it. First things first I'm searching for a top quality, durable and reliable rest. On my mathews Z7 i had a rip cord but know they are many new manufactures on the market. I have seen a lot of QAD HDX rest especially on Hoyt bows but would love some feedback and what you guys use or have heard. Appreciate it

I've been using a QAD for quite some time. I did have one break on me though. It wouldn't stay in the "cocked" position. From the time I mailed it, I had a new one in the mail in less than a week. Customer service was great.

Check out Limbdriver, quite a few folks on here really like them.

I'd shoot a Whisker Biscuit before I ever shoot another QAD.

I would shoot an Apache before I would shoot either of those again.

Ive heard a lot about Limb Driver...just haven't had a rest with full enclosure. W.B. are ideal but how do they handle up when your flying a lot of arrows through them and the fletchings. I know hoyt has a deal with QAD on HDX and its a personal preference. Both are great rests but which one works well with easton arrows and a 55-65#.

I've been using an AAE DOA, very stout construction and works great on my zxt.

The arrows and poundage won't affect either rests performance. But the is no timing with the pro v I have shot both on my hoyt. I prefer the pro v. Simple and very very accurate when it comes to tuning.

I've either owned or fiddled with many of the rests mentioned here.

Limbdriver Pro V - easy to set up, time and tune. On a Hoyt, it may be a little tight to access a couple of the adjustment screws. Made in USA

QAD HDX - is the only one in their lineup worth buying. Their less expensive rests have plastic parts and at some point will fail or wear out. Setup and timing does require some mechanical competence, but is not too bad if you watch the DVD and follow along carefully. Comes with a special wrench for adjustment, and does fine on a Hoyt but is a tight fit. I think they make a Hoyt specific rest as well. Made in USA

Whisker Biscuit - a timeless classic. Easy to set up. Extremely low failure rate. Freezing rain seems to be their only kryptonite. Looks like some are made in USA, some in China. Not sure if different models made in different places, or if older ones are made elsewhere. I've never paid attention when tearing open a package.

NAP Apache - easy to set up and cost effective. Just follow the directions. I am not convinced of their long term reliability, but folks really seem to like them, and they are affordable. Made in China

i'm a fan of the QAD HDX, but i've only shot it in comparison to an Octane Hostage rest.

Been shooting it for a little over a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Mine is on a bowtech as well but I can't personally see how it would make too much of a difference between the two brands.

As Gummi said, if you go QAD, go with the HDX. anything else and they start adding plastic stuff to it :/
