Call me cheap, but I use a simmons for bowhunting. It works fine and I've compared it next to my dad's busnell out to 200 yard with very similar if not the same exact readings

I had used my Bushnell golf range finder most of this season. The problem with it was that it was bulky and difficult to hold in one hand, which I consider a requirement when bow hunting. I went with a Nikon Prostaff 5 because of size. I don't really need the ARC stuff as I can adjust the measurement in my head pretty quickly using general rules of thumb.

Cabellas has the Nikon prostaff on sale. Online price was 134.00. I bought one last night. Goes out too 550 and the first 100 are in half yard increments

I've got a bushnell and I'm not crazy about it. I consistently get readings that are 5% longer than my buddy's vortex.

So--is your Bushnell off, or your buddie's Vortex?

I have a Leupold 600 and only thing I dislike is the unlighted display. At first legal shooting light you can take a reading but can't see the numbers until you raise it to the sky--

but which has better glass. my 8 year old nikon still works great for yardage and the glass is decent. but in low light, you cant use it for identification at all.

how is the Leupy 100 or vortex on optic quality

for bow hunting, it would be nice to have the rangefinder as my optic instead of having to carry small binos too

I just picked up the pursuit x1 at BPS. I had been looking at the Nikon, but this one has an led reticle and measured straight-line and angular distances. It's small, but a little heavy.

It's going to be hard to get low light clarity with an objective lense that small. It just doesn't let enough light in.

That being said, the glass on my Nikon is alot better than the glass on my bushnell and is better than a small pair of binos with a similar objective lense size.
