Weird noise when I start to draw?

I have a Switchback and just had my local shop install a set of Korbins strings/cables. After a dozen shots or so I started noticing a creaking sound when I start to draw. I had a friend over today and had him listen and we think it is the string making the noise. Kind if like when you pull a string tight and it creaks? Anyway, I know the Korbins strings are top so I am wondering if my shop may not have the bow set to spec. They are a Mathews dealer but tried to sell me a Barracuda string. That or maybe it just needs to settle a bit? It only happens on the first "cold" draw then nothing. Any help is appreciated!

I used to hear a weird noise on the draw also. So I backed draw weight down to 62# and I don't hear it anymore.
It was me grunting because my bad shoulder hurt so much. Haha
Maybe once you shoot 150 arrows the string will settle in.

That's funny Boomer57 because I backed the weight down this afternoon!

Thanks Okiehunter, I will talk to the shop and see if they will help me out on that. I really need to invest in a press!

could also be your yoke hangers. If they are the non Teflon style, then have them switch them out for you.

it is yoke hangers/bushings, whatever you like to call the. simply press the bow, remove a yoke (taking care not to add/remove twists), lightly scuff the backside with fine sandpaper.

reinstall and repeat on other side.

A creeking sound on a draw is bad . I have a brand new helim and as soon as I brought it home it wa making a noise on the initial draw. Took it in and it had a crack in the limb.

Not to bash or start trouble but I have heard a little noise on the start of the draw on almost every mathews I have been around. I hunted with them for years and always heard it. Never seemed to spook the game.

I don't think it is a cracked limb but I did the cotton ball trick...it passed. I couldn't get by the shop today but I will check with them on cleaning the limb pockets and switching out or polishing the yoke harnesses. Thanks all!

My DXT made a creak--just as I started the draw. If I let down and started over, no sound. Shoot an arrow, and next draw, there it was again. Had the bow disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and they changed out the yoke hangers to the Teflon ones--no more creak.

3 of my Mathews did that bit came from the limb pockets. I just tore it down and lined it with thin mole skin on the contact points. It went away.

send it to me, i'll fix it and send it back to you the same day. to be honest i had to put several twists in my cable to get the ata, peak weight and cam starting rotation correct on my Korbin strings he built for my Switchback. they are really solid threads, no peep rotation or serving separation like is stated with them. after i put mine on i had the same problem with the split harness bushings. get your bow out and set it in front of you with the string facing you. put your thumb on the string in front the split harness and grab the harness with the other fingers, pull the harness towards the string.............does it make the described sound?

muddyfuzzy...YES...it made the exact sound when I did what you said. I could hear it a lot better also since I was closer to the sound. Let me know how to get it to you or where you live, thanks!
