    Average arrow weight

    What do your arrows weigh?

I recently bought a compound coming from a trad bow. My first arrows were 390, I switched to some easton axis 340's with 125 gr head. They weigh 490. I noticed a huge drop in arrow flight at 30 yards.

I shoot 65-70 lbs at 30 in draw.

I know I should see more penetration with the heavier arrow but i am considering dropping to a 100 gr head instead of 125's. I am shooting slick tricks. And my arrows are full length so i may try to cut off some length to save some weight.

I shoot a 60lb D350 and my arrows weigh in at around 410gr total. It still shoots 290fps with a 28" draw. Not to shabby. It has some serious punch down range as well.

I've got a 28" DL, and currently shoot 348 grain CX Maxima Blue Streaks but I'm pretty much settled on 426 grain Easton FMJ 400's at about 426 grains and 100 grain heads. I'm wanting to quiet my bow even more and go through deer like a hot knife through butter.

Shot 410 grains for a long time and then went heavy, 560 grains and I will never go back to a light set up.

Mudslinger, What kind of FPS are you getting with that 560 gr arrow, and what Draw Weight ?

Not to hijack brother, but what spine arrows are you shooting? At #65-#70, 30 inch DL, and full length arrows with 125 grain heads you may still be under spined with a 340-350 spine shaft, depending on what bow you're shooting.

And I like my arrows to be around 450-475 with a heavy head out front. When making the jump from a 375ish grain arrow up to 450-475 you'll notice a considerable change in noise at the shot. Isn't that what we are all after? The noise is gonna get there before the arrow anyway, no matter how fast the arrow is flying.
