    Arrow Rest Issue

Ok, thought I'd share in case it helps someone else.

I've been flinging arrows all spring and summer on a regular basis. Have been feeling really good about shot placement, until yesterday.

I go out back and shoot the first arrow. Its low by about 8", so I get another arrow and shoot it. Hits almost in the same place as the first one.

My immediate reaction is to check the front site. All is ok, so i'm looking at the bow and don't see anything. Now I'm wondering what I'm doing. I fling another arrow and its low to. *** over!

I go get my range finder, maybe someone moved my target. Nope, its where its supposed to be, only I can't figure out what is different.

    DON'T DO THIS!

I go ahead and start moving pins. I get back on target, but not happy. I can tell I'm getting angry, so I put everything up to take a walk and cool off.

I called a buddy of mine to pick his brain, and neither of us can come up with what has changed. Well, when I get home I grab the bow to give it further inspection, and what I found was my NAP Hostage arrow rest had come loose.

The vertical setting had dropped and I didn't notice it.

Now I could have been silent, but if you get dialed in, and all of a sudden without explanation start having issues. Don't do like I did.

Walk away, chill out, and inspect the bow when you're not upset about what has gone wrong.

I've tightened the rest, dialed back in, and decided to post this to help someone else.

My rest has come loose before also, and had similar results. It took a shop to notice it for me though, as I started moving pins until I got tired of moving them. Next time I will be sure to check everything over good.

Was sitting in a tripod one morning and the wtd came pouring in--as I raise my bow I noticed movement of the arrow--never happened before. I took a peek at the rest and it was really loose, so I passed on the shots. Got back to the camp, tightened it up, and spent about 30 minutes re-zeroing, verifying, etc.

So the moral of the story--if it is attached by screws/bolts, it will come loose eventually unless you put gorilla torque on it and run the risk of breaking the fastener, or use an appropriate type of Loc-Tite on it.

New to go hunting, what do you inexperienced bow hunters recommend for a good rest?

Bow not go. I hate auto correct.
